Venezuela´s VEA newspaper accused the US ambassador, William Brownfield, of encouraging secessionism as a way to confront the policy of President Hugo Chavez.

VEA´s editorial suggested that the US embassy explain Brownfield´s serious statements in his recent trip to the rich oil Zulia state.

The paper says that although the any secessionist or antinational attempt conflicts with the Zulia people´s attitude, there are some dishonest politicians that have get to the point of considering a division of the nation to fulfill their objectives.

The editorial criticized that every time opposition sectors say there is a crisis, they try to bring about their ambition of creating an independent state separate from Venezuela.
