Cuban Five in Jail, But Optimistic

8-17-05,11:43am

Caracas, Aug 16 (Prensa Latina) The five Cuban anti-terrorists imprisoned in the US remain with high spirit and optimism, said Tuesday Mirta Rodríguez, mother of Antonio Guerrero, who was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Rodríguez said she had a phone conversation with her son two days ago from Havana, in which Antonio stressed the excellent spirit and satisfaction of the Five for the verdict issued by the US Court of Appeals 11th Circuit in Atlanta.

The three judge panel reversed the convictions and sentences, and remanding them to a new trial on the basis that they would never get a fair and impartial trial in Miami, where they were sentenced to harsh terms from 15 to double life imprisonment.

"That spirit fills us with optimism to keep fighting for their release", said Rodriguez.
