DEMAND VOTING RIGHTS FOR KATRINA SURVIVORS

Nine months ago Katrina unleashed its fury on New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, one of the cruelest disasters in history. Katrina survivors demand and deserve the right to reconstruction, and first priority on jobs, job training and contracts.

But Dispersed and Displaced in over 40 states in the country, Katrina survivors now face massive disenfranchisement and violation of tdheir voting rights in the upcoming New Orleans election.

This in an election that will decide who will lead the rebuilding and reconstruction efforts, where resources are allocated, and who will shape the future of the city.

This is a national disgrace. ACT NOW to protect the voting rights of New Orleanians.

Demand: Governor Blanco issue an executive order to put in place satellite voting places in cities and states where Katrina survivors now reside.Demand: the Secretary of State and Attorney General make public an updated voter roll.

Demand: the U.S. Department of Justice enforce the Voting Rights Act and ensure an open and fair election that provides equal access to voting for ALL voters those living inside of New Orleans AND outside of the city and state.
