Hanoi (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has asked Khanh Hoa province, home of coastal tourist destination Nha Trang bay, to focus on upgrading infrastructure for high-quality tourism that harmonizes with the environment.

The Government leader told provincial leaders during his visit on July 22 the province should deploy the Van Phong international transit seaport and the Cam Ranh international airport as soon as possible and that the environment should be a key factor in considering projects for investment.

“If it cashes in on high-quality tourism and deep-water seaport advantages, Khanh Hoa can become a national industrial and service hub as well as a dynamic economy,” Dung said.

He asked provincial leaders to work out more concrete policies in favor of industrial and agricultural production, services and exports as well as to bring in broader access to lending sources for production and export businesses.

Khanh Hoa recorded a high gross domestic production growth rate of 10.62 percent, increasing agricultural production by 5.4 percent, industrial production by 12.51 percent and services revenues by 38.2 percent.

As a result, tax revenues were up by 33 percent and per-capita incomes reached $1,050.

So far, the province has attracted 73 investment projects capitalised at $23.3 billion, including 20 projects put into operation.
