Big George Invites India Into Nuclear Club

According to a Knight Ridder article printed in the March 3, 2006 issue of The Spokesman-Review out of Spokane, WA, George W. Bush and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have signed an agreement that would “allow India to expand its nuclear arsenal by hundreds of weapons.” This arrogant and dangerous accord thumbs its nose at the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which India has never signed, and to which the global community has tried to adhere. The agreement flies in the face of the ongoing attempt by world leaders to convince North Korea and Iran to abandon their planned or existing nuclear weapons programs. Sadly, it is not surprising that Bush has struck such a deal with Prime Minister Singh. George, in clinical fashion, is acting the part of a cornered animal. He once had the credentials of a bully, but now he has blown all of his “political capital” and his friends are falling back to leave him bare. The only means that he has left to make or retain allies is to bestow gifts and thereby purchase their friendship. If he were a fellow 4th grader, I would probably feel sorry for him. But he is the U.S. president and he represents you and I on the world stage! This man, with his crew of Cabinet Secretaries, appears to be willing to sacrifice anything and anyone in order to stay his course. From all of the lives lost in Iraq and Afghanistan, to nuclear arms treaties, to the civil liberties of U.S. citizens. None are sacred to this sanctimonious man. As he becomes more and more isolated by the global community and continues to loose credibility in his own country, I fear that he will develop more and more of the characteristics of a trapped animal. He must be reined in and the legal authority to do so lies only with U.S. Senators and Representatives. Senators, Congresswomen, and Congressmen! Start the impeachment proceedings nowfor war crimes, lawlessness, and dishonesty. In the meantime, act now to exercise your authority. Throw your support behind Russ Feingold’s initiative to censure George W. for lawless acts.
