Maybe the time has come for Political Affairs to do an article about the New Democratic Party in Canada. This is the socialist oriented party and the official party of the Canadian labour movement that is fully supported by the Canadian Labour Congress (and most of its affiliates) which is the equivalent of the AFL-CIO? An article about the NDP in the province of Manitoba where they have held power for much of the last 40 years or so would be helpful. Winnipeg, Manitoba also had the longest serving elected Communist Party politicians in North America... the last one, Joe Zuken, died while he was campaigning to become Mayor of Winnipeg which many people thought he would achieve.
I think it would be helpful if both PA and the PWW gave considerable coverage to the NDP and Communist Party of Canada electoral work... also, there was an important electoral victory in British Columbia that saw a member of the Communist Party of Canada elected to public office as part of a broad coalition of greens, reds, liberals, progressives.
We need to learn from our sisters and brothers to the north. The PWW sponsored a speaking tour by a Canadian on health care... more of this is needed and the tours need to cover more of the United States.
But for now, our only ticket to getting rid of George Bush lies in voting for Kerry... this is the very real, but sad state of American politics.
