Wow. I guess I get to be one of the first to post here! One of the (many) reasons Bush needs to go is the Draconian "No Child (read "corporation") Left Behind" Act. This bill, passed with much support among both Democrats and Republicans, has been, and will continue to be, an assault on the American system of free public education. This system, a system which was hard-won through the struggles of the working class, has been in shambles for many years, and under constant attack from the radical right-wing bent on full privatization. The NCLB act has couched itself in rhetoric of "high standards", while denying school districts, educators, and children the resources necessary. This attack is so bold as to close schools if they do not perform to the standards set out in the act. The attacks on the public nature of the system have received renewed vigor with the act's penchant for Charter Schools, run by for-profit management corporations. These Charter Schools have proven to be an effective union-busting scheme, while at the same time "filtering" out underachieving students to bloat their success rates. We need billions invested in our schools, not in illegal, immoral, and unjust wars. Keep the promise of free public education, and expand it to the university level! Kick Bush out the door in 2004!!!!...........Gabriel Smith, Social Studies Educator, Buffalo, NY
