I realize I'm commenting on this after others have probably said some of the same things, but I've only just begun 'reconnecting' with the CPUSA after a hiatus of many, many years.
In any case, in reviewing all that has happened in the past, say, 5 years we are going to have to divorce ourselves from supporting the established parties, i.e., Dump the Democrats, Repel the Republicans, and start reinventing the CPUSA into the potentially formidable force it was 'back in the day' before we suddenly became minions of 'the evil empire'.
How do we do this? I certainly don't have all the answers, but here's a hint- where are OUR rallys and fundraisers? Where are OUR Red flags and renditions of the 'Internationale'? We aren't getting anywhere because we've managed to marginalize ourselves to the point of being a caricature of our former selves.
On the one hand, some might say, "Oh, look honey- Communists! How quaint!" while others might just as easily pick up a rock and have a go at one of us. Either way, we've got an image problem that needs to be fixed- and the only way to do is to hit the streets with a solid plan and a solid organization. On top of that we've got to show the working class that we're not out to take away all their Playstations and SUV's and whatnot- we've got to reverse the message that 'Commies' want to take away everything make everybody into robots or something. It's simply not true.
In short, from where I stand the CPUSA has managed to put itself on the fringes of the political world in the US; we've got to step back and reorganize into a street-fighting revolutionary group as we once were...70 some-odd years ago. It's time to reclaim our name and heritage and do some good for the masses.
The clock is ticking...LET'S ROLL!
