Workers' power,here in the U.S. and there in the Soviet Union in the McCarthy era, and now in the U.S. and Russia is yet feared by rulers-on both sides of the Atlantic-by those who fear all workers'democracy.
What is feared most,is the peace that economic cooperation,which need is inexorably asserting itself in the natural development of singular human history.
It is the rulers and war makers,on both sides of the Atlantic,but especially those imperials in the U.S.,who want to see the slavery,on modern foundations,of Russians,Negroes,women,native peoples,Latinos and Anglos-the whole working class.
What W.E.B. Du Bois saw clearly more than 100 yrs. ago in 1906, in his Niagara Movement address,is still incredibly true today-"...the laborer is opening the gates of Opportunity and Peace."
We see this in Rich Trumka's AFL-CIO vision,its fact in the movements to restore and create jobs and environmental safety,and the contradictory struggle of the Obama administration to rescue NLRB,labor's right to organize,the resistance to Citizen's v Federal and the attacks on his administration by big energy interests and big finance.
The resistance of labor to war and genocide,which sister Moskowitz so honored,will win,in the end-as it did,as she mentions,in Stalingrad-and especially in Leningrad. The communists we help win that day.
