Warning ~ Tea Party-Led House of Representatives May be Dangerous to VA and Veterans

In sharp contrast to the President's message of caring for those who defend our Constitution, one of the leading Tea Party Representatives in Congress intends to slash $4.5 billion from VA's budget.  As part of her response to President Obama's SOTU speech, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R - Minnesota) posted her anti-veteran plan to cut VA healthcare and benefits at her official government web site:

Veterans: $4.5 Billion [cut in spending.]  Cap increases in Veterans Affairs health care spending, and reduce disability compensation to account for SS disability payments. Reduce Veterans' Disability Compensation to account for Social Security Disability Insurance payments.

  • As usual Michelle Bachman is being ridiculous. There is no way we are going to take away from our veterans. There are other things that can be cut. I cannot believe how stupid the Republicans and Teabaggers are. They haven't got the slightest idea how to govern and their only agenda is themselves and to run the rest of further into the ditch and finish the job Bush started 8 years ago. We need to clean house and run all of these extremist waccos out of office. They are totally irresponsible. So disgusting and unproductive. We would have saved a lot of money if we had cut tax cuts for the upper 2% and it absolutely doesn't create jobs

  • I see the logic only in eliminating double-dipping. That is a fair sacrifice we disabled vets can make. We don't need to collect VA comp and SSDI at the same time for the same injury. They should not cut funding for health services however.
