Israeli Warplanes Bomb Gaza as Arrests Continue in West Bank

GAZA, Palestine, June 7, 2006 (IPC + Agencies) - - Israeli combat helicopters bombed a number of sites in the Gaza Strip, while Israeli occupation forces continued their arrest campaigns throughout the provinces of the West Bank.

Security sources said that Israeli warplanes fired at least two missiles at a training post used by the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC), as well as a number of areas in northern Gaza. Both attacks spread fear and horror among the civilian population living near the areas.

The same post was bombed by Israeli warplanes a month ago, killing five PRC activists.

In northern Gaza, Israeli warplanes bombed an open field in the town of Beit Lahya,, causing structural damages in nearby houses. However, no casualties have yet been reported by medical sources.

Meanwhile, more than 11 citizens were arrested by Israeli forces in different parts of the West Bank, under the pretext of being affiliated with the Islamic Jihad, Fateh, Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) movements.

Furthermore, two children were injured last night in the city of Tubas when Israeli forces storming the city opened fire at them.

Security sources confirmed that Israeli soldiers opened fire deliberately towards the citizens, inuring two 16-year-old boys moderately. They were both rushed to one of the city's hospitals for treatment.
